Nothing like a trip up I95 to remind me how many idiots there are on Earth.

Aside from the typical jacklegs that feel the need to leapfrog two cars at a time in a mile-long logjam of vehicles in the left lane (all traveling well above the speed limit) by passing in the right lane, today involved a special breed of stupids that felt the need to do the above in torrential rain, while many people were driving with hazard flashers on. I really can't understand where these people think they are going to go when they change lanes to the right, speed up, and then force their way back into the line of vehicles in the left lane.

But all of that was topped by possibly the single most a-hole move I have ever witnessed someone do in my entire life near the end of the trip. We were once again driving in a torrential downpour, and traffic was bumper to bumper in both lanes, as we could only go about 45 mph max. Apparently that wasn't fast enough for one dbag, because he decided to veer over onto the LEFT SHOULDER AND PASS MULTIPLE VEHICLES with his two left tires not even on pavement, and standing water everywhere, going at least 60 mph. I was driving in the left lane, and as I saw him coming up behind me, I actually had to creep over towards the center line to prevent him from striking my vehicle, because his Tacoma was basically the same width as the distance from the left lane to the guard rail. I laid on the horn as he went by, but it didn't phase that piece or crap. I watched him do the same exact thing a few minutes later, this time driving through a HUGE area of standing water on the left side of the road. I would never wish physical harm to another person, but I'll admit that in that moment, I yearned to see that dude go sliding off into the guardrail and mangle his truck.

I'm glad to be off the highway and back at home. Leaving vacation is a bummer, but coming back home to a happy dog makes it all better. Our ~16 year old lab mix has had some ups and downs recently, and wasn't doing too well the day before we left for vacation, but she seems to have bounced back pretty well while boarding at the vet's office while we were gone. It did my heart good to come home and see her today.
